WELCOME

Welcome to the consultation website for the redevelopment of Kensal Gasworks.

We would like to work with the community to develop a plan for the site and have set up this consultation website to ensure we can hear your views, find out how you would like to work with us and keep you updated on our proposals.

Thank you to those who have provided comments so far, we have reviewed all of them in detail and are keen to hear from more of the community.

St William is the developer for Kensal Gasworks, which is part of a wider site identified for development called the Kensal Canalside Opportunity Area. The land to the east of the Gasworks is owned by Ballymore and Sainsbury’s, they are also developing a plan for their site and we are working closely together.

As you may know, the Council has prepared a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for the Kensal Canalside area to guide development.

The Kensal Canalside SPD, which was adopted in July 2021, provides additional guidance for us as developers.

You can view the latest on the Council’s SPD here.

St William is specialise in the redevelopment of redundant gasworks sites across London and the south east. Our goal is to unlock some of the most technically complex regeneration sites, transforming them into beautiful places for people to live, work and spend time.

Redevelopment of the site will deliver new housing, including affordable homes. Opening up this closed-off site will also help to improve the local environment and offer opportunities for the surrounding community, including a new public space, safe pedestrian and cycle routes, improved access to the Grand Union Canal and small commercial uses such as a café.

The development will also provide funding through Section 106 contributions for improvements to local infrastructure.

We will update this website throughout the project. To register for updates please click here.

Consultation

We are strongly committed to working closely with the community, and are continuing to speak to local businesses, residents and community groups to understand their aspirations for Kensal Gasworks.

In 2021 we ran online engagement exercises where we asked people to tell us their priorities for redevelopment, how we should work with the community and suggest any local groups we should meet with.

Later in 2021, we held four in-person consultation events (two events in July and two events in September) to show people our initial designs and gather feedback. We received a great response and would like to thank everyone who took part.
